Max Sauer (M.Sc.) studied business informatics at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Villingen-Schwenningen while working as a software developer for an ERP service provider. He completed his master's degree in business informatics at the University of Applied Sciences in Offenburg. During this time, he worked as a software developer for an international media group.

Since March 2022, he has been working as a research scientist in the Software Engineering (SE) research department at the FZI Research Centre for Information Technology. Max Sauer is currently involved in the projects "SDIKA – Showcase Secure Digital Identities Karlsruhe" and "SDI4ECom – Secure and Self-Sovereign Digital Identities in E-Commerce".

His research focuses on the interplay between user experience (UX) and information security, especially of digital identity wallets.

At the same time, Max Sauer is doing his PhD at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and is being supervised by his doctoral supervisor Prof. Dr. Andreas Oberweis.
