Birte Havighorst studied Communication Design at the Merz Akademie in Stuttgart, specializing in visual communication. She completed her studies in 2003 with a "European Media Master of Arts".

After graduation, she first worked in an advertising agency, before deciding to become self-employed. For over 17 years, she worked for medium-sized companies, focusing on corporate identity, corporate design and web design.

In 2017, her career path took her to the FZI Research Center for Information Technology.

Today, Birte Havighorst is responsible for corporate design development and compliance at the FZI – in print as well as on the web – and coordinates all graphic matters in-house.
