Maximilian Zipfl studied electrical engineering and information technology at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences until 2019. During his master's studies, he dealt with the theoretical fundamentals of sensor technology
Since August 2019, Maximilian Zipfl has been working as a Research Assistant and Project Lead at the FZI Research Center for Information Technology in the Technical Cognitive Systems department.
His research focuses on the validation of autonomous driving, particularly its integration with simulation. His work includes analyzing the description of traffic scenes and scenarios in terms of the contextual behavior of traffic participants, leading to his dissertation with the title "Scene to Scenario: Datadriven Pipeline for Extracting and Re-Simulation of Test Scenarios for Highly Automated Driving Functions."
Currently, he is involved in research projects on digital twins for the safeguarding of various transportation systems.
