Career

Arne Rönnau is a professor for machine intelligence and robotics at the Institute for Information Management in Engineering (IMI) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). He holds a PhD in computer science and a master’s degree in electrical engineering. Today, he conducts research and teaches in the interdisciplinary field of robotics in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

His research combines aspects of computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering to develop novel intelligent robots. The aim is to combine theoretical model knowledge, dynamics and individual characteristics of a robot with current methods of machine learning in such a way that the systems become more efficient, flexible and autonomous. The work focuses on design concepts for new, intelligent machines and robots, machine situational and self-awareness, and action and decision-making to increase robotic intelligence.
